I’m a portrait and commercial photographer based in the Washington, DC area. For more than 20 years, I’ve focused on creating clean, polished photography that still feels personal. My approach is fairly minimal. I pay close attention to light, skin, expression, and the small details that can completely change a photograph. I also love incorporating movement whenever it makes sense, giving the work a sense of energy without making it feel overly produced.

My relationship with photography actually started in college, where I first discovered the darkroom. I eventually went in a different direction and spent more than a decade working as a programmer, but photography found its way back into my life through my wife, Kat.

As Kat was building her career as a makeup artist, I picked up a camera again so we could create together and spend more time working alongside each other. What started pretty simply became something much bigger. Photography gave me a way to bring together the things I had always been drawn to: design, technology, problem solving, and working creatively with people.

Today, I photograph portraits, fashion, commercial campaigns, and branding projects for individuals, creatives, agencies, and brands. Regardless of what I’m photographing, I want the work to feel considered and polished while still allowing the person in front of my camera to come through.

Kat and I still work together regularly. She brings more than 20 years of experience in makeup and hair, and having spent so many years creating together, there is an understanding between lighting, makeup, skin, and the final image that has become an important part of how we work.

I’m based in Northern Virginia and work throughout Washington, DC and Maryland, with projects regularly taking me to New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other cities across the country.

For me, the goal has stayed pretty simple: make people look incredible without losing what makes them look like themselves.
